The dodger on an open deck catamaran is the only protection against wind, rain and sun that the crew has on such a boat.
When we were building a catamaran, my head was full of worries, and I was so busy with the work that I never really thought, how it would be to have an open deck catamaran.
This came only with experience of longer sailing, when you could do absolutely nothing but face on the sunshine, night cold, rain, storms and other things, outside, behind the controls and in an unprotected cockpit. Without a shade, without a roof and without any cover from the wind and waves, which often crash over the bow and sip through the deck and cockpit all the way to the stern.
